I study, and try to practice, Vajrayana Buddhism. My main areas of interest are Chod, Kagyu and Nyingma traditions as well as Buddhisms interactions with the West, pop-culture and engaged Buddhism.

I think often we try to be too linear about things, obviously a lot of our social and other conditioning sets us up nicely for this. However life is a bit more complex than that, and expecting things to always work along the same lines leads to disappointment.

Even if some new seemingly amazing thing happens it's hard to know how long it will last, due to it also being the result of innumerable ever changing factors coming together, or if in fact it will be directly a cause of some 'bigger' problems.

Even if you have accumulated whatever arbitrary numbers of whatever practice or achieved whatever titles and qualifications, just keep doing the practice as it's the only thing that will really help long term. Everything else is just distracting scenery. Admittedly sometimes amazing enthralling scenery, but scenery nonetheless.
